Montana State University students and faculty perform at Tippet Rise
October 24, 2019
For the third consecutive year, students and faculty from Montana State University’s Honors College presented music and poetry in the Olivier Music Barn at Tippet Rise. The Saturday, October 19 event opened with a beautiful performance by student Cade Fiddaman of J.S. Bach’s “Adagio” from Sonata No. 1 in G minor for Solo Violin. The program included works by composers Carl Maria von Weber, John Adams, and Randall Thompson, and it featured a composition by the Dean of the Honors College, Dr. Ilse-Mari Lee: “Gordonkara” for Two Celli, performed by Lee and MSU alumnus, David Kirk.
Established in 2013 by the Montana University System Board of Regents, the Honors College provides opportunities for students to study, conduct research, and exchange ideas in a challenging and supportive academic environment. Since 2016, the Honors College and Tippet Rise have enjoyed a wonderful collaboration: in addition to the Musicale, the College sends students to the art center each summer to explore the ranch, attend concerts, and interview visiting artists, staff, and the art center’s founders, Peter and Cathy Halstead.
Thank you to each and every performer. The Musicale was beautiful and heartwarming!
