21 to '21: Visit our social media platforms for daily postcards from The Season That Wasn’t
December 11, 2020
In the spring of 2020, we reached out to each of the musicians who would have performed at Tippet Rise this summer, our fifth season of classical music and sculpture tours, with a request: to record virtual postcards that we would share with our audiences via our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages. We were absolutely delighted by the response. Beautiful and heartwarming greetings and impromptu performances arrived from all over the world.
From an empty auditorium near Lisbon, Portugal came Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in C-Sharp Minor performed by the Ukranian pianist and YouTube star, Valentina Lisitsa. The Israeli-born cellist Inbal Segev sent the sights and sounds of the Atlantic and an exquisite Bach Cello Suite, which she played on the beach in Sag Harbor in New York. The pianist Roman Rabinovich greeted us from his home in Calgary, Canada and shared a heartwarming story about weekly performances he and his wife, the violinist Diana Cohen, now give in a very special venue in their neighborhood.
The list goes on—there are 21 such postcards in all—and now it is our joy and honor to begin sharing them with you. Starting Friday, December 11, we will post one postcard each day until 2021. To watch them, please visit our Facebook, Instagram or Twitter pages every day until the New Year.
With warmest wishes for a happy and healthy 2021,
The Tippet Rise team and our extended family of musicians.
