Doug Perkins
Sculpture Site: The Domo, 10:30 AM
Description
The New York Times declared Doug Perkins a “percussion virtuoso," while the Los Angeles Times described pianist Vicky Chow as a “new star of new music.” In the shadows of the Domo, the two will perform John Luther Adams’ Nunataks, Red Arc/Blue Veil and selections from Strange and Sacred Noise, with additional percussion by Todd Meehan and Timothy Feeney. Adams, whose life and work are deeply rooted in the natural world, was awarded the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Music and a 2015 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Classical Composition for his symphonic work, _Become Ocean_.
